The prospect for the development and utilization of bio-fuels is on the rise with several companies reporting significant gains in the prices of their shares.

Solazyme, a company which has an agreement with Qantas to pursue algae based jet fuels is among several other companies which has seen a significant rise in the prices of its shares.

Pike believes that the increase in the number of projects is due to an increased demand from aviation and military consumers.
